The Stephen Ministry equips laypersons to provide distinctively Christian one-to-one care to those who are experiencing all kinds of life needs and circumstances, both in our congregation and in our community. There are times when each of us needs the care of another person, a Christian friend, a Stephen Minister. These needs include, but are not limited to…the hospitalized, the elderly, the terminally ill and their families, the homebound, the separated or divorced, those grieving a death or a serious loss, those with disabilities and their families. Stephen Ministry is a confidential ministry; those receiving care can be sure that their identity and what goes on in the caring relationship will remain private. If you are interested in talking to a Stephen Minister or have an interest in becoming a Stephen Minsiter , contact: Nancy Lessick at 419-884-2676 [email protected] or Marilyn Hunter at 419-756-2769 [email protected].
Funeral Luncheon Committee
The Funeral Luncheon Committee consists of teams of parishioners that are called upon when a family wishes to have a luncheon provided after a funeral. The church provides the hall, dishes (whether china or paper), and beverages (hot and cold). The family of the deceased parishioner provides the meat and rolls. The team provides the side dishes and sees to the luncheon set up and clean up. For more information contact Janet Bishop at 419-774-9112 [email protected] or Eileen Gedeon at 419-774-0873 [email protected].
Nursing Home Luncheon
On the third Tuesday of each month (April through November) Resurrection Parish hosts a lunch, coffee, dessert and bingo afternoon in the Fellowship Hall for residents from seven area nursing homes. In December, they plan a special celebration for Christmas. Volunteers are always needed to help with our guests or to donate food for the luncheons. A list is in the Narthex three weeks before the luncheon. This ministry brings the care of the Catholic community to all Catholics who are hospitalized in our area and from Resurrection Parish. Volunteer Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion visit patients and families providing sacramental services for patients. Please call the Parish if you or a family member is in the hospital so we can make sure someone is visiting. If you would like to volunteer contact the Parish office.
This outreach service is provided to all parishioners in an effort to be responsive to the needs of those in our Parish who are disabled, sick or confined to their homes due to temporary or chronic illness which causes them to miss regularly worshiping with their Parish community. Volunteer Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion make the visits. If you need a visit or would like to volunteer contact the Parish office.
