Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We celebrate the Feast of Divine Mercy today.
Have mercy on us, have mercy on us, Kyrie eleison, Kriste eleison, how often we say or sing these verses. They are part of our DNA as Catholics. We just don't want forgiveness, we want mercy to restore us, to embrace us, to make us one with Jesus and our brothers and sisters That is what God does for us.
Now, what can we do in response?
CORPORAL WORKS OF MERCY
Feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless, visit the imprisoned, care for the Sick, bury the dead.
SPIRITUAL WORKS OF MERCY
Admonish, the Sinner, instruct the ignorant, advise the perplexed, comfort the unhappy, bear wrongs patiently, forgive all injuries, pray for the living and the dead.
DEVOTIONS WITH DIVINE MERCY
The Divine Mercy Chaplet, the Divine Mercy Image, the Hour of Mercy, the Divine Mercy Novena, the indulgence for those who go to confession and receive Holy Communion on the feast of Divine Mercy (I think this applies within the weeks before and after).
We celebrate Easter for 50 days, such is the power of the Resurrection in our lives. As a parish, it is also our feast day, so enjoy for the 50 days.
Please pray for our young folks who are receiving confirmation and first holy communion these special days. May the Sprit build up their faith now and in the future. Come, Holy Spirit, Come Holy Spirit!
We are truly blessed.
