Dec. 3th/4th Bulletin Article

The Christmas Mass schedule for our three parishes is listed below. This should help you with planning your time to be with family and friends. In creating this schedule, the goal was to provide as many Mass opportunities as possible for parishioners of all three parishes while also considering the workload of the priests, musicians, and other supporting ministries. In addition to the list below, we priests will also have a Christmas Mass at each of our two local state prisons. That’s eleven Masses in five locations in less than 24 hours!

As I mentioned last year to the parishioners at St. Peter, when I set the Mass schedule I take into consideration a priest being sick or needing to respond to an emergency. I have experienced of both these and more during my years as a priest. The schedule below would be manageable for two priests but very hectic. So we priests are praying for good health for everyone, especially during the days of Christmas!

Christmas Eve

  • 4:00 pm St. Mary
  • 4:00 pm Resurrection
  • 5:00 pm St. Peter
  • 7:00 pm St. Peter
  • 10:00 pm St. Peter (tri-parish)

Christmas Day

  • 8:00 am St. Peter
  • 9:00 am St. Mary
  • 9:00 am Resurrection
  • 10:00 am St. Peter

The location of the Christmas Eve Mass might rotate between parishes each year. What happens with this will be determined by feedback from you, the parishioners.

Additionally, Christmas Eve Mass is earlier this year than previous years based on feedback from musicians, liturgical ministers, and parishioners. I’m excited that it will be a tri-parish effort, since parishioners from all three parishes will be involved with singing, lecturing, serving, etc.

In your preparation for Christmas, be sure to receive the very important sacrament of Confession. It is one of the most important sacraments Jesus gave us. We priests make this sacrament accessible to you before every Mass, with Wednesday school Masses being the only exception. That gives you the opportunity to receive the sacrament every day of the week, and most days both morning and evening. If the saints went regularly, then so should we.

Sincerely,
Fr. Miller
