Jan.28th/29th Bulletin Article

From the Pastor:

This week I share with you some upcoming events you might want to add to your calendar.

The first is the Blessing of Throats this weekend after each Mass. The priest will pray the blessing from his chair for all present, but also offer the blessing individually to those who are interested with blessed candles to the throat as is traditionally done. For Masses where a deacon is present, he also will be assisting with the blessing. God provides extra blessings to us because sometimes we need extra grace!

The second calendar item is the Tri-Parish Ski trip to Snow Trails on Thursday evening, Feb. 16. We are blest to have outdoor winter fun so close to us. They offer snow skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing. They also have a very nice ski lodge with food and drinks for those who aren’t “hitting the slopes” or for those who need a moment of rest in the warmth. See the bulletin for more details. If you plan to attend, please call the parish office at St. Peter so they have an accurate attendance count. We priests look forward to seeing you there.

The third event for your calendar is a bus trip to the Ark Encounter. This will be a one-day pilgrimage to the life-size replica of Noah’s Ark just south of Cincinnati in Kentucky. It is a fascinating and very educational exhibit of what occurred in the earlier days of humanity. As is often the case with the Bible, we are given the important spiritual details, but would like to know more of the story. The Ark Encounter helps to do this in a grand way. More details and pricing will be forthcoming. Lunch and dinner will be part of the trip. Consider joining Fr. Kevin and other parishioners on this interesting trip.

If you are interested in seeing more, then consider the fourth calendar event – a trip to the Holy Land with Fr. Kishore. The dates for the trip are Monday, Oct. 30 through Thursday, Nov. 9. This trip will allow those who attend to walk personally in the footsteps of Jesus. Local tour guides will lead the group to each site and provide an explanation regarding the significance of the site, then and now. Accommodations in the Holy Land will be first class. More details will be in the bulletin next week. This trip will be truly amazing in how it will bring the Scriptures to life.

Lastly, the fifth event that I share with you this week is a Tri-Parish mission scheduled for the beginning of Lent. It will only be three days, beginning Sunday evening through Tuesday evening. As is typical with these, each evening leads into the next evening, providing different spiritual insight each day. The topic will be one of the most cherished aspects of our faith, which brings more people into the Catholic Church than any other reason, and that is the Eucharist. More details about this will be forthcoming. Your prayers for the success of this are much appreciated.

Gratefully,
Fr. Miller
